Missing Logos, Emails and gmail

It was a bit hecktick this morning the logos entered for geocaching.org.uk, went on show yesterday on our own Site. One of the entrants sent me a message saying that we'd missed off several of his designs, but had put his favourite up.

After a quick visit, confirmed this, I fired off a email to the sites webmaster, pointing this out. We spoke this morning, and as far as he was aware, he'd downloaded all the logos. After a brief investigation, what had happened was found out. We used a gmail account for all entrys, what gmail does is, if you reply to some one, all messages to and from, are nested together, so that when you look in your In box, you only see one message from that person, and have to cascade open all the rest. When webby downloaded the messages to his pc, to edit the entrys, before uploading them to our site, he only got the first message and not the nested parts, hence the missing logos.

Once this had been discovered the missing logos were put up on display with the rest, unfortunatly, one was still missing. This one was sone rectifyed. I mean while, posted a big appology on G:UK
well thats why my description on the site is Development Group Co-Ordinator, puting my kneecaps on the line.

A great night out, followed by a Double wammy!

Were do I start? Probably with some recent events? I've sent letters of to the local county councils, asking them to nominate sites for a CITO event (I know,I'm crazy! But as the only organiser of a CITO event in the UK, some one has to organise one) now its just playing a waiting game. I've also sent a letter to the Estates Manager Wales, off the Crown Estates, so that's a waiting game as well. Happy Meal was disabled as I posted a request to archive it, as the owner "Sliver", wasn't maintaining it, event after 2 DNF's. After speaking to the Ranger whose responsible for Pan Y Gelli, I'm going to submit a request to Flintshire cc, for permission to place a cache there (at least I ask permission) so keep your eyes out for a new cache going out in there.

Monday nite, was a Non event cache event, at the Mill in Chester, organised by Jan and the Percy Boys, and Kelsburow Wayfarers, so Nette and I popped in for a drink, we meet old friends and made some new ones, and just missed Mongoose who arrived as we left.

Today has been a total bummer, hence the second part of the title! First off we have a Kia Sportage, which is due its MOT, 7 weeks ago, we had it back at the dealers (a Kia Main Dealer) as we had been told that the front bushes would fail its MOT. The dealer is a multi dealership, and as the Kia part does not have its own buildings yet, uses the Ford Dealership service dept, well they gave it a all green tick list (meaning that there is nothing wrong with the car)and guesse what? My Bessie failed her MOT, on and this is the part that you wont believe "a severely corroded front brake pipe"! Which is going to cost £50 to sort out. Well Nette was straight on the phone to the service manager, playing hell, and demanding that they rectify it at their expense! He requested that we fax him a copy of the tick sheet. 5 minutes later, and he'd rang back, saying that he'd found the sheet, and they'ed pay for the repair, just invoice them. Which is a good job, as it ment I don't have to take the car to the dealership, which is located near to the Trafford Centre, and we live in North Wales.

That was part one of the Double Whammy! Here's part 2, and the realy worrying one!

Nette had made me a appointment for a eye test, even though my last one was only last September. As my vision is getting slightly blurred, when looking at things over arms length (sitting about 8ft away from the set, I can't read the menu's on sky properly), as this has been going on for a few weeks, she said "enough was enough", I tend to avoid going to even the Doctors, unless I'm straight armed, Opticians, once every 2 years is fine with me. As we use Specsavers, and they've just opened a branch in Prestatyn, at least I didn't have far to drive, I dragged Nette along with me (not that I'm scared, but on the principle that if I have to wait around bored, she might as well join me, boy was I glad she came, but more of that in a minute). The Clinical assistant, asked a few questions, gave me the mechanical site test (apparently its more accurate, doing it using the machine) and the eyeball pressure test (they blow a puff of air at your eyeball), then it was a case of sit or in my case stand (I hate just sitting around)and waiting, now you see why I dragged Nette along! Before the optician saw me, the clinical Assistant, had a word with her re my eye problems.

After a thorough eye test, which she said my prescription for my Right Eye had changed, but because the eye is so weak, if she changed it I'd not notice the difference. She then went on to drop the bomb shell! She told me that she expected to see slight haziness, due to my short sightedness, but because of what I described, it could be the start of catahracts! I've got to go back for another appointment, to have some drops put in my eyes, so she can see if they are actualy developing. So now I've got a agonising wait to find out. If I have, hopefully I get treatment before they get too bad, as I can't afford to lose my driving licience, with Nette the way she is.

So there you go my double wammy day, hopefully things will get better!
